MATTHEW JAY FUND for UNICEF's BORN FREE CAMPAIGN
Matthew Jay was a singer songwriter who was signed to EMI in 1999. His critically acclaimed debut album "Draw" was released in 2001 and Matthew toured Britain, Europe and America that year. Artistes he supported included Travis, Stereophonics, Doves, Dido and Divine Comedy. His single "Please Don’t Send Me Away" became a BBC Radio 1 Record of the Week. He played a number of live sessions for radio stations including Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge on BBC Radio 1 and made a number of TV appearances including "Live with Jools Holland".
Matthew was a UNICEF supporter and we were unaware of this until he died in 2003. That was Matthew, generous with humility – never needing to shout about his good deeds. He is our inspiration to support the UNICEF Born Free from HIV campaign.
We read about the work of UNICEF to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV and believe that this is work Matthew would have wished to support. We decided, therefore, to set up this fundraising page on his behalf, to encourage people to donate to UNICEF's campaign and help free a new generation in the world's poorer countries from HIV. You can also support UNICEF's campaign through downloads!
EMI Recording have given us the rights to three videos made by Matthew entitled "Please Don’t Send Me Away", "Let your Shoulder Fall" and "Call My Name Out", all of which are available from the Matthew Jay Download Shop, at http://www.matthewjay.dloadshop.com
Part of the cost of downloading Matthew’s videos will be donated to UNICEF's Born Free from HIV campaign, thus helping to bring a better future to so many connected lives.
Two Matthew Jay video downloads will enable three babies to receive the anti-retroviral medication and care they need to prevent them from contracting HIV from their mothers.
